Vítor Matos is a Portuguese chef born in Jorjais, Vila Real, with an international career spanning nearly 30 years.
He graduated in Cuisine and Pastry in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, between 1992 and 1995, and began his professional career at “Restaurant des Jeunes Rives” in 1995. After returning to Portugal, he worked in several prestigious kitchens, including Estalagem Quinta do Paço, Grande Hotel da Curia, Vidago Palace Hotel Golf & Spa, Casa da Calçada Relais & Châteaux, and Tiara Park Atlantic Hotel.
Throughout his career, Vítor Matos has received several distinctions, such as the “Prix Chefs de l’Avenir” from the Académie Internationale de Gastronomie in 2011, and titles like Chef of the Year in 2003, 2013, and 2014.
Since 2015, he has been the Chef at the Antiqvvm restaurant in Porto, formerly known as Solar do Vinho do Porto, where he gives free rein to his imagination and where technique, ingredients, and emotion are present in his creations, with the main goal of providing a unique and unforgettable gastronomic experience.
In 2017, Antiqvvm was awarded a Michelin star, and in 2024 it received a second star, making him the Portuguese chef with the most Michelin stars.
In addition to Antiqvvm, Vítor Matos is involved in several other gastronomic projects, such as 2Monkeys in Lisbon, Blind in Porto, Oculto in Vila do Conde, Hool in Guimarães, and Schistó in the Douro region. He is also a culinary consultant at the Vidago Palace Hotel and is developing a wine project, Natura by Vítor Matos, in collaboration with Portuguese oenologists.
